Project week 5: Vision Statement
Vision Statement
Since I began my research in game development, game developing YouTubers and completing my Unity tutorials I have decided to go back to the drawing board. There are few unity tutorials and videos out there for beginners like I am. There are even fewer tutorials that follow all the software updates that Unity has every couple of months. So I have decided to aim for a more achievable goal. I am going to be making an obstacle race game. I find this to be a more realistic aim than my previous firefly game idea. It is way more beginner friendly and I can be certain to complete it in the time given. I have been looking at the Unity asset store and have been gaining inspiration there.
I would like to go for a steampunk sci-fi, futuristic game. Maybe set in the future. It could be on a planet like Venus or Mars. The player would be some sort of spaceship and the aim would avoid some form of predator or monster or hill/terrain. I can use some assets from the unity store to create my world and vehicle. The player will have to use the arrow keys to avoid the obstacles. If the player hits the obstacles they will have to start over. I want to make the game a continuous game. not one with levels but one level that just keeps getting harder. I don't wish for my game to be difficult for someone to play. it will have easy controls and a straightforward goal. I want people like myself who are not into games to enjoy the game as well.
The genre would be A sci-fi Vehicle simulator. I will aim to show that through my choice in aesthetics. I will use colours and environment assets to show that the character is in space. I have even researched some music to add to the ambience of the game. I looked up royalty-free music in the genres, I wanted to find something without lyrics and fast pace enough to match with the speed of the game.
I have learned a lot from the unity tutorials that I have been taking for the past months. I will use my knowledge from those tutorials and apply them to my obstacle game. I have also been looking at YouTubers as well, Brackeys will be a great help. He s one of the few unity YouTubers that really go over the basics. His videos are a bit dated so it will be tricky to fix the issues that come with the updates. I will find other and more current accounts to fix my problems.
I Have been making a Pinterest board for the aesthetic I wish to achieve. I want to go for a mars theme so I have chosen some colours I wish to use. The colours I have chosen are brown, red, blacks and blues. I have some images that really show the vibe I wish to have in my 3d game. Here I have some images of mars I draw inspiration from.
I know making my first game will be a struggle but with the clear objective I have set for myself I feel it will be achieved.
